ARCH DESIGN STUDIO 1: PROJECT 3EXP 3: Screen Caps

PRADA
With this design, which functions mostly as a public space/monument for Prada and fashion, I wanted to express a lightness and show the gravity of the structure as if it were many pieces of fabric cuts, all sewn together. The

COMMUNAL
With the communal meeting space, I continued the hanging theme of Prada's structure, aiming to evoke the appearance of hanging fabric, like sails or a hammock. I wanted it to be playful, and fresh, a place where one might hav food and relax while meeting. I wanted to eleviated an power struggle between the clients, by creating a softer, open environment, that didn't have stong 'fountations' in any direction idoelogically, or physically.

OBAMA
Obama's 'office' is based on the amphitheatres of the past, the yellow space functioning as a point where a speaker can make an address to the workers, or to guests. It has many rooms/offices, because I believe that Obama would want a great number of different opinions for his leadership to work. Obama doesn't have a special office of his own, because I believe that he would want to avoid the top-down, pproach to power, and would want to be seen as one of the team, rather than a leader, or dictator. In the spirit of Obama's attempts at bringing transparency to government, I wanted all the offices to look in at each other, so there is no secrecy in the work place, and all speaking in the amphitheatre is never missed.

The process used for developing these designs can be seen in an older post, in the form of sketches.
