Nobel:

The entrance to Nobel's Lab, the heavy stone block is representative of guilt associated with being labelled a merchant of war, it must be passed under (crouching) to enter.

Reverse angle: The space after entering has a void in the floor, through which the stone can pass if it falls, this represents Nobel's attempt to create a legacy of non-violence.

Cousteau: one must pass down ramp into depths of water to enter the lab.In this lab there is a very real danger that curiosity can pull you down into the blackness and death.
